For Immediate Release by Danbury Fair and Racearena Memorabilia
We (Don & Jenn Of Danbury Fair and Raceareana) are honored to announce our new / old exhibit. The display pictured is work in progress and will undergo further restoration. This exhibit is originally from the Great Danbury State Fair located in Danbury Ct. In the early 1960s Cinderellaland was built for the Danbury Fair and was opened up as what would be a fairy tale exhibit bigger than life. The Danbury Fair even had permission from Disney to play Cinderella's sound soundtrack. In 1982, Jack & Arthur Gillette purchased the majority of this display and used it for their children's park at Magic Forest located in Lake George NY.  Owner Jack Gillette, would fully retire from the Magic Forest park between 2019 and 2021 as items would be privately sold, auctioned and given away / Stored. This display would end up stored in a storage unit in Danbury CT. Through many seasons in a storage unit that had some unknown faults the items took on damage including mold and animals living in it. The display was put away with the best of intentions but the small flaws had a large impact. In collaboration with the Danbury Museum and Historical Society we would be granted the opportunity to save as much of the exhibit as possible knowing some items would be lost. We are pleased to show you these progress pictures with over 200 hours of time volunteered by 5 people to get the exhibit thus far. We do have several pieces that are just too far gone however we have saved 95% of them! We are very excited to be working with The Danbury Museum and Historical Society as we will be sharing photos and links to much of the mass collection of photos and movies the museum holds.
